We are living the pioneer life in the new world way.

My blog is meant to take the reader many places.Β  I may write about a restaurant we visited, or a place I visit with my Friday Friends group, or a new recipe we tried, or maybe more personal sharing something from our farm, gardening, animal humor and whatever else comes to me that week.Β  It is simply my opinions, tips, treasures and treats.Β Β  IT IS OUR LIFE.

I enjoy every minute of my family time.Β  I like knowing my children spend quality time as a family.Β  I like shutting my phone off after 5:00 so I can cook for my family.Β Β  I enjoy spending my summer days after work and weekends tending to our gardens and teaching my children how to grow, harvest, and can their own food.Β  I like knowing they are learning compassion, responsibility, and the circle of life with our horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs and cats. We work hard from sunrise to nightfall caring for our animals and land, working, travel hockey, basketball, lacrosse, voice lessons, cooking, cleaning and ending with a great game of Yahtzee before bed. Β Some days start at 6:00 a.m. and continue straight through to 10:30 p.m. with the nightly feeding of the animals.Β  That is followed with showers, packing lunches and finally bed time.Β  We spend many days visiting landmarks in our area or touring a new store or flea market. We snowmobile, hike and ice skate.Β  Β We look forward to visiting with friends when there is time.Β  We go apple, cherry, and strawberry picking and watch maple syrup being made every year. Β We visit new restaurants, pack picnic lunches and spend the day at Fort Niagara.Β  We spend many days at the Erie County Fair taking in all the history and enjoying the free shows.Β  We cook breakfast, lunch and dinner in our pie tins over our open bonfire and end the evening with some night swimming.

  1. Fantastic phrase “…living the pioneer life the new world way.” You paint a beautiful family portrait – it’s nice knowing there are families out there who cherish real family time – in the end family bonds and the idea of treating others like family are what make the world a kinder place…kudos to you and yours

    • Thank you AnnMarie. Regardless of how busy we are and how lost we get in the world of today, I try to always find a balance between the new world and the old world and share the importance of family with my children!!

      • You’re welcome. You’ve got a wonderful philosophy – I know your children must appreciate the difference.
It is challenging raising kids today – mine are now teens and they’re kind and thoughtful. So far…so good πŸ™‚

  4. I love all your pictures! And that you treasure quality time with your children. I’m glad I came across your blog! I found you through Lori Greer’s blog. It’s nice to connect with you, Jenny

    • Hi Jenny! So glad you found my blog and I’m looking forward to getting over to yours this week. I love connecting through mutual blogs. We are just returning from a week away and I have boatloads of laundry and more weeding than one person should handle from being away lol!!! Thanks for your kind words on my blog! Tina

  5. Hi Tina: I have missed your posts so very much. I hope you and the family are all well. I imagine the kids have grown taller and may be unrecognizable to me now. Please give everyone my warm regards and take very good care of yourselves. I hope because you’re a bit tucked away you are all safer than most in your country, I really hope so. I have family in Texas and Florida and one moving to Arizona and I am so concerned for them.
