A happy reminder

waiting

Enjoy your day today!!  I do not work on Fridays but have a busy day planned starting with visiting a rummage sale, cleaning the house, and canning the last batch of cherries for the season.  I will do it all with happiness (ok, maybe not the cleaning part) but the rest of it 🙂

Revenge

Image

Going along with the drama post from yesterday this was something in 6th grade my mother said to me.  I had switched schools to a small Catholic school where most of the kids had been together since Kindergarten.  I was the “outsider” trying to fit in.  Of course the “click” of girls did not accept me.  I have a very strong personality so would never let them know it was hurtful but at home would express my dislike of the school to my parents and cry.  That is when my mother said to me “Happiness is your best revenge. It will make them think twice when they see they are not getting to you”.

Two weeks after joining the school and acting like it was the best thing going (while cursing it out privately at home to my siblings) the “click” started losing it’s power and the girls started befriending me leaving the one “ring leader” to try and be my friend.  To this day she still tries (sending me facebook friend requests which I deny every time lol).  Happiness was my best revenge.  It also taught me happiness is a choice and when life throws you a curve you can either choose to be happy or choose to let it get to you.

I hope whatever is thrown at you, happiness is your choice!!

Ride around our Island

Friday the man of the house announced he had been looking at a boat and decided to buy it. SURPRISE…oh boy.  It’s not that I don’t like boats as we live on an Island surrounded by water and had a boat before we had children, horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs and 34 acres of land.  We enjoyed that boat for 5 wonderful years until there was no time.  How can we fit this into our schedule now??

He has brought up buying a boat for a few years now and being a city boy who adapted to my farm lifestyle I know I must bend to some of his forms of entertainment.  Our children have only been on a boat once so they were more than excited.  How could I be the party pooper pointing out all the negatives?  (not that I didn’t I just did not do it in front of the kids).

So yesterday after we worked on the gardens and finished about 3/4 of the projects on our to do list we took our maiden voyage.  I have some wonderful pictures to share showing the sights around the Island.  The kids are already waiting to go again today.  And I realized last night this is another way our family can enjoy time together!!

Well it’s 40 degrees outside and wet, damp and yucky but the animals have been fed and now it’s time for the 11 year olds (but only for today as tomorrow she turns 12!!) softball game outside in the cold wet field.  I can’t find the zippity anywhere this morning!!
